Booking Terms

An initial reservation may be made by telephone, e-mail or through the on-line booking enquiry form. All reservation enquiries will be held for three working days pending an e-mail or completed reservation form confirming your booking. The submission or signing of the reservation form and or payment of the deposit, confirms acceptance of the Terms and Conditions set out below, and shall be binding on the person(s) booking and intending to occupy Memory Lane. Completion and submission of the reservation form, or payment of the deposit, is confirmation that the guests have read, understood, and agree to comply with these Terms and Conditions.

Payment Terms

In order to secure your booking a deposit of 50% of the total balance will be required up front. Seven working days prior to your arrival date you will be required to pay the balance in full.

Security Deposit

The guest is held responsible for any damages or breakages that may be caused to the property or its contents, and also for all items on the inventory during your stay. At no time should any of the inventory items be removed from the property. We require a security deposit to be paid to our management company on arrival. This deposit will be repaid following your departure, providing our local management company have reported no breakages or damage. The inventory is checked prior to your arrival and following your departure. Memory Lane reserves the right to retain the security deposit, either in full or part, to cover breakages, damages or missing items. Memory Lane reserves the right to pursue compensation for any and all damages caused, which may exceed the value of the security deposit, within 14 days of your departure.

Cancellations

Failure for the guests to arrive, or cancellations made 0 to 14 days prior to the agreed arrival date, guests will forfeit 100% of the deposit. Cancellations made 15 to 28 days prior to the agreed arrival date will forfeit 75% of the deposit or 25% of the booking quote value, whichever the greater. Cancellations made 29 days or more prior to the agreed arrival date forfeit 50% of the deposit or 25% of the booking total, whichever is the greater.

Occupancy

Memory Lane is a non-smoking home, however smoking is permitted on the lapa and outside. You are requested to use the ashtrays provided. By throwing your cigarette buts in the bush you are endangering the wildlife and creating a fire risk. Pets are forbidden within Memory Lane and Marloth Park. To ensure comfort, security and compliance, only persons named on the reservation form may occupy Memory Lane. Any persons not on the Reservation form will be asked to leave.

Force Majeure

Neither party shall be liable to the other or any one else for the loss, damage or delay arising out of war rebellion, civil commotion, strikes, lockouts and industrial disputes, fire explosions, earthquakes, act of God flood, drought or bad weather, order of Government or any competent civil or military authority or any other cause not within the reasonable control of either party.

Liability

Memory Lane and or Marloth Park do not accept liability whatsoever for accidents, death, personal injury, loss or damage to persons or individuals personal affects, however caused as a result of the use of the pool, the house or surrounding wildlife. Memory Lane considers a child to be under the age of eighteen, and therefore it is the responsibility of the adult member of the party to ensure that children are always properly supervised when in the bush and or in the swimming pool.

Travel Insurance / Medical Insurance

As Marloth Park is a conservation area with freely roaming wildlife, we strongly recommend that you ensure that you have adequate medical insurance for the duration of your stay. Travel insurance is also encouraged, particularly for international guests, to cover eventualities such as cancellations, accidents, sickness and damage. As Marloth Park is a malaria area you are encouraged to consult your local General Practitioner and ensure that you have the necessary medication for your trip.

South African Wildlife

As Marloth Park is a conservation area, guests are strongly advised not to feed monkeys and baboons and not to touch, chase or in any way provoke any wildlife that they may encounter. If you are going to feed the wildlife, you are asked to feed them responsibly and seek advice from local residents, as the wrong food can be fatal to there digestive system, causing possible death. Poaching is forbidden.

Driving Regulations

The speed limit on Olifant Street is 50kph and 30kph on ALL other roads within Marloth Park. Do not alight from your vehicle in the presence of dangerous animals. You may not drive anywhere other than on an authorised road. Driving without a valid drivers licence is strictly forbidden. It is illegal to drive a vehicle with people sitting on the roof and or in the windows. Driving a vehicle of which the rear flat is open with people sitting on it and feet hanging down are not permitted.

Recreational Vehicles

Quad bikes and any other form of recreational motorcycles are forbidden within Marloth Park.

Spotlights

The use of spotlights on any public road is illegal, and in Marloth Park one could also be persecuted on suspicion of poaching. It is an invasion of property owner's privacy when spotlights are shone into their houses, lapas and bomas. This is a nature conservation area.

Fires - Firewood

The making of fires at any other place than those designated is forbidden. Collecting of firewood within the bush is not allowed. Dead wood in the veld plays a very important role, which ultimately creates a bigger diversity of fauna and flora in the area. Fire wood can be purchased at the local supermarket.

Sunset and Sun Rise Regulations

No walking, jogging or cycling is permitted between sunset and sunrise. Do not disturb the peace between 18:00pm and 06:00am with music and rowdiness.
